Behind Every Scholarship, Our Community Said Yes.

This year marked another record-breaking year for scholarships. 140 volunteers gave months of their time to application building, equity-centered review, and thoughtful decision-making, while hundreds of individual donors and scholarship sponsors made it all possible. Together, we awarded 252 scholarships to 143 local high school students through TTCF’s Common Application system. Awards were based on each student’s circumstances, goals, and experiences. These investments totaled $1,871,325, removing financial barriers to higher education, career training, and the skilled trades.

Every award is an investment in a local student’s future and in the long-term strength of our community. Thank you to every donor who makes these awards possible, and to every volunteer reviewer who gives their time—thoughtfully considering each applicant to help ensure funding reaches students with the greatest need and the potential to thrive.

Peace, Love, and Happiness: An Award for a Kinder World

This Spring, two generous donors started a scholarship rooted in their beliefs. The Peace, Love, and Happiness Scholarship celebrates students who choose optimism, lead with compassion, and have the courage to forge their own path. Oline Vachon, the inaugural awardee, embodies that spirit. This fall, she heads to the American University of Paris, where her curiosity and commitment to understanding people across cultures will carry her toward aspirations in law, anthropology, and humanitarian work. She does so with the support of all of us, and a new multi-year award providing up to $6,000 over four years.

The Peace, Love, and Happiness Scholarship honors the values of its donors. It helps them build the world they believe in, one in which positive change starts with how we treat others. Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation is honored to provide a way for people like you to be the change you wish to see in the world. What do you imagine is possible? We can help.

There is no weakness in being kind, in opening your heart. I pray that I will never lose the gift of caring and seeing through someone else’s heart.
