From One Table to Many: Tahoe Truckee’s Housing Partners Keep Building.
In 2018, a hallway conversation at a TTCF-convened Mountain Housing Council meeting became the Truckee Tahoe Workforce Housing Agency, California’s first housing joint powers authority. This August, council alumni showed state leaders what has grown since: programs that open existing homes to local workers, help build new homes, and lay the groundwork for California’s first rural regional housing finance authority.
From 2017 to 2023, TTCF led the council’s 29 partners as they facilitated 770 achievable homes and attracted $80 million to North Tahoe–Truckee. Then, by design, TTCF handed the work to the partners. Today, TTCF remains part of the region’s connective tissue on housing: seeding organizations like the Tahoe Housing Hub, advising new ones, and bringing state agencies to see what rural collaboration can do.
