Sugar Bowl Resort Partners with Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (TTCF)  to Drive Forest Solutions

Sugar Bowl Ski Resort is leading two community-focused forest initiatives on Donner Summit and has partnered with TTCF to do so. First, Sugar Bowl is treating densely forested acres to reduce wildfire risk, recognizing that the Summit is a critical location for regional wildfire mitigation. This work builds upon 183 acres of completed forest health and wildfire mitigation efforts funded by grants made in partnership with TTCF and Cal-Fire. The Resort is also performing a biomass feasibility study to determine whether excess hazardous trees, branches, and shrubs from forest clean-up can be used to produce energy. These efforts demonstrate Sugar Bowl’s commitment to forest health, community resilience, and long-term sustainability.

In the Fall 2025, TTCF became a fiscal sponsor of Sugar Bowl, providing philanthropic partnership to homeowners and community members who want to bring vision to action. This collaboration aligns with TTCF’s Forest Futures Impact Strategy and existing investments and builds upon a longstanding partnership and shared vision to advance collaborative forest management solutions that benefit people and ecosystems across the Tahoe-Truckee region.
