Donors Invest in Developing Local Workforce for In-Demand Careers
For the third year, TTCF partnered with local scholarship donors to offer need-based Workforce Scholarships. These scholarships support young adults pursuing training and advanced education in professions and vocations that are in high demand and benefit our community. This investment is two-fold: investing in developing our local workforce and supporting our local young adults as they shape their careers.
Workforce Scholarships allowed 20 determined and focused young adults to complete their chosen educational path this year. Awards included:
- Certifications in paralegal, paramedic, and aviation
- Bachelor’s degrees in early childhood education administration, social sciences, and emergency service administration
- Teaching credentials in English language development, special education, and high school counseling
- Master degrees in social work, marriage and family counseling, public health, nonprofit management, and special education counseling
- Both a PhD in occupational therapy and a JD in immigration and family law
Advancing my career in social work through a master’s program that focuses on direct practice in rural communities wouldn’t have been possible without the support of TTCF’s Workforce program. The immense amount of work, dedication, and hours into my license in social work will be time-consuming yet impactful, and TTCF’s financial support is allowing me to put in that time and effort with minimal burdens so that I can come back to Truckee and serve.
