Holding the Door Open: On the Verge Emerging Leaders Hone Skills
Over the past year, 12 emerging leaders from community-based organizations in Tahoe Truckee participated in On The Verge (OTV), a Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (TTCF) program. Designed to retain talent and transform local leadership, the program guides emerging leaders to deepen their knowledge, strengthen their skills, and confidently drive meaningful change. Through the program, participants foster lifelong connections and are empowered to lead with clarity and purpose in their organizations and communities.
OTV cohorts explore leadership, often discovering timely themes that are alive for both the individual participants and the broader community. Through OTV, they seek to build a deeper understanding of these themes and hone skills that will benefit all of us. The graduating OTV cohort sought to foster an environment of belonging where all voices are valued and respected. Their work centered on developing skills to meaningfully listen, communicate, and act with unlike-minded* individuals and organizations to effect change.
*TTCF believes that stronger and more creative solutions are created when unlike-minded people and organizations work to solve our region’s and world’s challenges.

Participating in the OTV leadership program was an incredible experience. The coaches were outstanding, thoughtful, inspiring, and genuinely invested in our growth. One of the most meaningful aspects for me was working alongside my fellow Vergers, many of whom I had known through professional collaborations and cross-agency partnerships, and who have now become true friends. That sense of connection made our shared work even more impactful.

Katz Amsterdam Foundation Drives Solutions for Mental Health and Substance Use
The Katz Amsterdam Foundation (KAF) has been a core partner in advancing TTCF’s regional behavioral health strategy for the past eight years. Since the start of this relationship, Katz has invested $1,696,650 in projects supporting regional mental health, substance use, and community engagement. TTCF was recently awarded an additional $300,000 to continue this work. The dollars will fund projects including an alcohol reduction campaign, peer services, substance use recovery, and mental health programming delivered in Spanish.
A new community-led campaign seeks to foster cultural change around alcohol use through a harm reduction lens. This campaign will shift community perceptions of alcohol through partnerships with bars and restaurants, substance misuse treatment and recovery providers, existing partnerships within the Community Collaborative of Tahoe Truckee (CCTT)—a TTCF program—and sober-curious and sober-living community members.
